Ministries Within Our Church

ACOLYTE: Assist in those roles necessary to celebrate worship, such as carrying the cross, torches and Gospel book. Also assist the deacon or priest in setting the table prior to the Great Thanksgiving.

ALTAR GUILD:  Long standing vital ministry of service to the parish. Altar Guild members prepare the altar and sanctuary spaces for worship and following the service, clean the altar and sanctuary area and vessels used.

FLOWER GUILD: Members arrange flowers for Sunday worship and special events.

LECTOR: Read the lessons and lead the psalm at Sunday worship.

LEM: Lay Eucharistic Minister’s distribute the consecrated wine during services of Holy Communion.

HOSPITALITY: On a rotating basis, persons prepare and serve refreshments following the later service.

TELLERS: Count and record the Sunday collection each week.

MUSIC MINISTRY:  The choir provides musical leadership for the music ministry at Transfiguration.  They help lead worship at the later worship services and prepare special music weekly from September to June.  A pick-up choir sings in the summer months.  The children sing for special occasions and there are many talented individuals who give their musical gifts as an offering throughout the year.  All interested persons are encouraged to join us.  For more information you can contact Jackie Galliher.

STEWARDSHIP STEERING: Is a clearinghouse group designed to facilitate stewardship activities and events in the parish and for service to the wider community.

FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE: This group researches, plans and assists the parish in carrying out targeted fundraisers for the parish and for mission.

BUDGET and FINANCE COMMITTEE: Assist the Treasurer in preparing the Annual Budget, review monthly income and expenses, complete the yearly audit and designate key areas requiring increased oversight and review.

COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE: Responsible for media and press releases, newspaper advertising, Parish Directory organization, bulletin boards and “in house” communications.

BUILDING and GROUNDS COMMITTEE: Under the direction of the Junior Warden, this group carries out planned work days, completes routine building and maintenance and advises the Junior Warden and Rector on property and building concerns.

VESTRY: Normally elected for a three-year term, the Vestry represents the overall parish by working with the Rector and Wardens as the chief decision-making team in the parish. They are principally responsible for developing and facilitating the mission and active ministry of the church.
