International Outreach

Panama Mission:  The 2007 Ground Mission Team includes representatives from three of the participating churches within The Frederick Regional Council (FRC) as well as members from the Frederick Community.  Imagine not having access to regular medical care or eye examinations.  or, being able to go to the medicine cabinet for a simple medication such as an aspirin.  Many of us take our abundant health care opportunities for granted; while families in Panama and many places around the world do not have the same access to health care.  The FRC will continue their partnership with the Diocese of Panama in providing a health clinic, vision clinic and children's ministry at the Nuevo Arenosa Health Department Station in the interior area of Panama.  Last year with the addition of the children's ministry and the vision clinic, the Panama Project Team provided over 1800 services to our brothers and sisters in the Grand Region, sister region to the FRC.  For more information, please contact the Rev. Kay Rice at 301-662-2104 .

Africa Mission: In April 2007, two members of the parish traveled to the Diocese of Kigezi in Uganda. An Anglican priest and his family hosted them. Together they toured various areas, the local parish and the diocese, including the Bishop Barham College, an African theological school and seminary. In September 2007, the Rev. Canon and Mrs. Turyamureeba plan on visiting the United States and will be hosted during their time in Maryland by Judy and Frank Willson of our parish. Our goal is to begin an international dialogue about mission, ministry and the common bond we have in Christ.

hasta inc.:  Why hasta inc.?  Hasta means "until" in Spanish.  As Christians we work until He comes again...  hasta inc. is a faith based 501c3 non-profit corporation created to address the healthcare needs of people with limited access to healthcare by developing relationships in the community and with The Ministry of Health.  Our mission is to establish healthcare in the communities that we serve.  Currently hasta inc. is working in Panama with the Episcopal Diocese of Panama in The Panama Medical Project.  The goal of The Project is to establish medical services in six communities who have limited access to healthcare.  The Episcopal Bishop of Panama, Rt. Rev. Julio Murray, has identified the sites.  The Project offers the opportunity for; local, national and foreign mission service as people from the community, Panama and the US join together to offer doctor visits, medicines, education, and hope to the people we serve.  JoEllen Nutter is the Executive Director of hasta inc.  She has lived and worked full time in Panama since October 2006.  You can reach her through email at joellennutter@yahoo.com .
